Stripy Skirt sew hip project

These worn out old jeans belong to my daughter got the stripy skirt treatment and I am really pleased with the result. I followed the instructions from sew hip magazine http://www.sewhip.co.uk/ i love this magazine and have been getting it since the first issue but this is the first time I have actually made anything! from the magazine. This was surprisingly easy to do the hardest part was unpicking the pockets. I have not hemmed the bottom yet but had to take a photo anyway!

Quilt and Dolls find a new home

This quilt has found a new home with a very pregnant Caroline SNA extraordinaire! (special needs assistant) who works at our local national school and has just earned a well deserved break before the birth of her third child way to go! good luck!!!

The three Happiness in the heart dolls shiped off to France late Janurary a belated Bon Voyage ! ....... an auntie present for three cute sisters. The purple doll is dressed in fabric from Perth WA. My very super sister in law Aileen gave to me this fabric at christmas while at home on holidays from Perth WA. Actually the three girls are dressed in fabrics from Australia,USA and UK and now they live in France! Looks like they know their way around .

Niamh an Chinn oir Niamh of the golden hair

This is a work in progress. The idea is to introduce a character from the old Irish fairy tale about the land of the ever young Tír na Nóg Niamh of the golden hair. After much drawing and redrawing the sketch for the embroidered image for Niamh on horse came about I think she looks suitably self assured .... being princess material and drop dead gorgeous to booth this look was essential! This is the juicy orange golden green colour story. This is the center panel and I am not sure how to proceed .... plan is to look at it for a few days and hope it will come to me! I have made a little cot quilt using this particular collection of fabrics and like the zing factor you get from the zesty orange accent ( did no have enough zesty orange fabric for Niamh had to do with a less intense orange to frame the embriodered panel... may need to order more intense orange to frame the embroidered block to get that colour punch. Next to the do one with a different colourway green blues yellow and chocolate brown.

8 Japanese Knot Bags all in a row

This is my final instalment as a maker in preparation for the Christmas season. Three of these bags are already spoken for! They are perfect for the forgetful among us including myself in this happy group. I can testify to the fact that it is pretty difficult to loose one of these although not impossible! If you can see the larger strap slips into the smaller strap forming a knot it rests comfortably on your wrist while your two hands are free to unlock doors, use toilets without letting your bag touch the ground (a little practice required!) shop in the sales whipping through those racks using your two hands without having to put your bag down. In fact I used one of these trusty bags at both Christmas markets I attended in Boyle and Sligo. A BIG THANK YOU ! to all those people who stopped by my stall and bought quilts, bags, dolls, notebooks and cards. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOURS THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON.

Happiness in the heart dolls

These 2 girls are ready to rock at the Christmas market this weekend! Must stop making and start packing and labelling. I gave both of them a scarf to keep them warm - the orange fleece one has cute little angel wings and bells for a festive feel!

Happiness in the heart is a unique handmade cloth doll designed to give you happiness in your heart. When you receive a happiness in the heart doll you think about what makes you happy and name the doll after this thought. The dolls are also great dancers and will entertain you with their ' cough funky moves! These girls are always content being admired as well (gives them an ego boost!). Happiness in the heart are designed for everyone including humans! Happiness in the heart is an original design by yours truly Breda Redfen aka Curlyrip!
